There is app on iTunes called “External Keyboard” which will let you use your iPhone as a keyboard for your iPad via bluetooth or WiFi. However in order to use your iPhone as an external keyboard for your iPad, you must have the app opened on both devices at the same time.

Although limitation is a bummer, it works. On the iPad, External keyboard is web browser and on the iPhone, it’s just a keyboard. Simply tap which fields in the browser you wish to type and you can start typing away on the iPhone.

There you have got a button for email too that opens a blank screen with an option to email what you type.  On choosing email, it will paste your text into a new email where you must use the iPad keyboard to complete. In case, if you wish to type text into a different app, you can copy it from this email section, close the app and paste into any app you wish.

As mentioned earlier this might not be concrete solution for using iPhone as an external keyboard for iPad, but while waiting for Apple to open up the SDK, it is a good alternative.
