How to reset or reformat a mobile phone

It may happens that a program corrupts the C: drive of your phone. In such case, some data can be lost of course but, more annoying, some applications may not work or work only partially,…
Series 60

On a Series 60 v1 based phone (N-Gage, 3650, 7650), two key sequences will allow to restore your phone to a cleaner state:

- Normal Reset (*#7780#) : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)

- Deep Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.

In both case, the phone will ask you a confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).

Files and applications stored on E: drive are not be affected by these sequences.

On Series 60 phones such as (6600/6620/7610), the sequence is slightly different:
- power the phone off,
- press and keep down the keys green/talk + ’3′ + ‘*’, – power on the phone.
- release the keys when the formatting starts.

4. Select Mailbox name by highlighting it with the navigation key then pressing its centre. Type a name for the mailbox then choose OK with the left selection key

Settings for GMAIL ( Google Mail ) in a N70 device:

Incoming: pop.googlemail.com

Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com

Do NOT USE smtp.youremailaddress.com

Select: security ports 993/995.

The above settings will bypass the annoying the Google certificate warnings!!!!!!

Furthermore after successfully setting up your account a wise man should do the following:

Change your pop options, under account settings in the original Gmail account (from the PC/Laptop) to Not archive after checking mail so that it doesn’t delete all the emails from your inbox (on phone) once it updates at your specified time.

Guide How to Install Flash Themes on Sony Ericsson Mobiles

Sony ericson flash theme tricks
This guide is a creation of “Smyle” and I’m just sharing it.
(It’s the way He and I’m installing on my phone, I or He can’t be held responsible for your phone after using this guide and “kill” your phone if u didn’t follow the steps accordingly)

First of all u need XS++ from the attachments, a DCU-60 Cable (that came with your phone) for transfer.
Flash menus consist of a .swf (the menu) and a theme (.thm), in order to use flash themes u need both files.

Method I:
The following steps has to be made to install the .swf files into your phone to use flash themes:

1.First of all remove your MS(Memory Stick Pro Duo) and SIM card from phone before to begin.
2. Make a directory with this structure inside the folder of XS++ “own_custpack/tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash”(without “”)
3.Copy your swf files into the flash directory
4.Open Xs++ and press Start/Connect
5.Hold down the “C” button on your phone , and then plug your phone into the DCU-60 cable
6.XS++ will now connect to your phone , and then give you information about it , including its Retail Color , Firmware Version etc.
7.You should be in a tab labeled “Flash”. If not , click that tab. Now check Customize File System and int the “model” drop-down menu, select Own Custpack, instead of the phone name. Now u use the file structure created at point 2.
8.Now , take a deep breath , and prepare to be excited , because when you turn on your phone after the following step you’ll have flash themes on your phone
9.Click the Flash Button (in the tab labeled “Flash”), and then XS++ will start uploading the files to your phone. When XS++ has finished it will tell to remove your phone , you must quit XS++ , (if applicable click the green eject icon in the system tray of Windows), remove the cable , remove the battery for twenty (20) seconds , insert the SIM card and MS(Memory Stick Pro Duo) , re-insert the battery and turn the phone on.
10.Now connect your phone to PC after u turn on and copy the themes (.thm files) to your phone(MS or Phone Memory is your choice) in order to use the .swf files uploaded early

Method II:
1.First of all remove your MS(Memory Stick Pro Duo) and SIM card from phone before to begin.
2.Press Start/Connect
3.Hold down the C button on your phone and then plug your phone into the DCU-60 Cable.
4.XS++ will now connect to your phone, and then give you info about it.
5.Click “Start FSX”(on the bottom),and the directories of your phone willl be generated in the box.
6.Go to “tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash” and drag the .swf files from your PC into the white box to the far right. Now u have uploaded your files(this can take a while if u have lots of .swf files)
7.After uploading the files , click “Shutdown FSX”(right corner down),and then unplug your phone when it tells you to in the status box (far left)
8.Now connect your phone to PC after u turn on and copy the themes (.thm files) to your phone(MS or Phone Memory is your choice) in order to use the .swf files uploaded early

Now you have some Flash menus on your phone. I recommend that you get a Flash menu pack(contains the .thm and .swf files),so that all the file paths are correct within the .thm file.

Hope u’ll find this guide usefull.
